INDIVIDUAL PSYCHOTHERAPY
Janet Constantine's approach to individual psychotherapy is based in years of experiential group training and ongoing individual clinical supervision. Constantine believes emotional and psychological injuries have their roots embedded in the past, consciously or unconsciously, and are brought forward in repeated patterns of emotions, beliefs and behaviors.
These early experiences shape how our brains are formed, how our defenses are structured and how our choices are shaped. Left unaddressed, these patterns can lead to resistance, self-defeating defenses of passivity or aggression, addiction and other forms of escape and emotional suffering. Constantine guides her clients into deep insight as to the root causes of their suffering. She facilitates role training to develop new skills and self esteem for managing feelings and behavior. She is also very skilled in psychodramatic action methods of healing, assisting those clients who need an emotional catharsis of past traumatic events and to integrate the expressed feelings into meaningful and compassionate understanding.
